Net38 is just a place to hang out and find like-minded people. I have to admit that it's not very exciting at the moment, but perhaps it will evolve.
Most of this site is only available to members. You are welcome to join this site as a member, subject to the following:
Membership gives you a profile that other members can view. Members can communicate by sending messages.
I ask that all members behave responsibly on this site and follow the rules please.
This site uses OpenID for access control. OpenID allows you to have a single identity which you can use to log into multiple web sites. This has the advantage that you dont need to remember a whole lot of different user names and passwords for all the web sites that you visit. To learn more about OpenID try Wikipedia's OpenID page.
If you already have an OpenID, then you can go ahead and use it to log into this site. Just enter your OpenID URL on the front page, or click on one of the shortcuts. You will then be re-directed to your OpenID provider to login. After you login, then if you have not previously joined this site, you will be given the option to join and create a profile.
If you don't have an OpenID, then you will need to sign up with one of the many OpenID providers. It's possible you might already have an OpenID account without realising it; many large internet companies are OpenID providers (Google, Yahoo, MySpace, AOL). There is a list of OpenID providers on the OpenID Foundation web site.
You should be able to use any OpenID provider to access this site. The following OpenID providers are known to work (last tested March 2010).
You can use a Google account to login. Clicking on the Google link will redirect you to the Google login page when you can log into Google in the usual way. You will then be switched back to net38.org and be logged in.
If you have a blog at livejournal.com then you can use your blog URL to login, e.g. myblog.livejournal.com. You will be redirected to LiveJournal where you can log into LiveJournal in the usual way. LiveJournal will ask you whether you trust net38.org with your LiveJournal identity. You will then be switched back to net38.org and be logged in. You can edit the list of trusted sites for your identity within LiveJournal.
You can use a MySpace account to login. Clicking on the MySpace link will redirect you to the MySpace login page when you can log into MySpace in the usual way. You will then be switched back to net38.org and be logged in.
If you have a blog at wordpress.com then you can use your blog URL to login, e.g. myblog.wordpress.com. You should sign into your Wordpress account first before trying to sign into net38.org. Wordpress will then ask you whether you trust net38.org with your Wordpress identity. You will then be switched back to net38.org and be logged in. You can configure your blog to trust an OpenID enabled site automatically using the OpenID section of the settings.
You can use a Yahoo account to login. Clicking on the Yahoo link will redirect you to the Yahoo login page when you can log into Yahoo in the usual way. You will then be switched back to net38.org and be logged in.
As a member, you have full control over how information to share with others. The minimum information required for membership is:
Yes, that's all! This is not one of those annoying sites that wants to know your life history and your inside leg measurement. You don't even need to supply an email address. Any other information you provide is optional.
This site has been tested with the latest versions of various popular web browsers and should be compatible with any modern web browser.
This site is however under active development and there is every chance that I might accidentaly include stuff that doesn't work. I appologise in advance is something doesn't work right.
